1. General Manuscript Submission Requirements
1.1. Manuscript Originality
Manuscripts must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal. Authors are responsible for originality, data accuracy, citation accuracy, and compliance with research and publication ethics.
1.2. Article Language
JIKD accepts articles written in Indonesian or English that are clear, correct, and consistent with academic writing conventions.
1.3. File Format
Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format using the official JIKD article template.
1.4. Peer Review
JIKD applies a double-blind peer-review system. The manuscript file submitted for review must not include authors’ names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, or other information that could reveal their identities.
Authors’ details must be completed in the OJS metadata. Authors’ names and affiliations will be included in the final article according to the editor’s instructions after the review process is complete.
1.5. Similarity and Plagiarism Screening
Manuscripts may undergo text similarity screening using available screening services. JIKD sets a maximum similarity index of 30%.
Manuscripts exceeding this limit may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected based on the editor’s assessment of the sources and context of the similarity. A similarity score does not automatically prove plagiarism.
2. Technical Writing Format
Manuscripts must comply with the following formatting requirements:
- Font: Cambria.
- Font size: 11 pt for these guidelines. Font sizes in article manuscripts must follow the JIKD template.
- Spacing: single.
- Text alignment: justified.
- Page layout: use A4 paper size.
- Foreign terms: italicized when necessary.
- Tables, figures, and graphs: must be placed in the relevant part of the text, numbered and titled, and referred to in the article text.
Authors must check that the manuscript format conforms to the JIKD template before submitting it through OJS.
3. Article Structure and Organization
3.1. Article Title
The scientific article title must meet the following requirements:
- A maximum of 15 words.
- Be concise, specific, and informative.
- Reflect the content, objectives, and main research problem.
- Avoid uncommon abbreviations and unnecessary symbols.
The title must be written in the same language as the manuscript.
3.2. Author Information and Affiliations
The names of all authors, institutional affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email address must be completed in the OJS metadata. The format for author names and affiliations in the final article must follow the JIKD template.
The manuscript file for initial review must remain anonymous to ensure an objective double-blind peer-review process.
3.3. Article Information
Information on the dates received, revised, and accepted is managed by the editor based on the actual editorial process. The DOI and publication license information are included in accordance with JIKD publication requirements.
3.4. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract must be written as a single paragraph of 150–200 words and include:
- The research background or objective.
- The research methods.
- The main results or findings.
- A brief conclusion.
Manuscripts written in Indonesian must include abstracts in both Indonesian and English.
Keywords must consist of 3–5 words or phrases representing the main research topic and be placed after the abstract.
3.5. Introduction
The Introduction is recommended to account for approximately 15–20% of the total article length. This section should be written as a coherent narrative without subheadings.
The Introduction must present the background supported by data and scientific references, previous research (state of the art), the research gap, novelty or scientific contribution, the study’s significance, and a clearly stated research objective at the end.
References in the Introduction should preferably come from relevant, high-quality primary sources, especially research articles published in scientific journals.
3.6. Research Methodology
The Research Methodology is recommended to account for approximately 15–20% of the total article length. This section must be explained systematically and adequately so that other researchers can understand and replicate the study.
The methodology must include at least:
- Research design: the type and design of the study.
- Time and setting: the study location and implementation period.
- Population and sample: the population, sample or participant size, sampling technique, and inclusion and exclusion criteria where relevant.
- Research variables: the variables or aspects analyzed in accordance with the research objectives.
- Instruments and data collection: measurement tools, questionnaires, data collection procedures, and information on instrument validity and reliability where relevant.
- Data analysis: the analysis methods, including statistical tests and significance levels for quantitative analyses.
- Ethical considerations: ethical approval information in accordance with the type and requirements of the study.
For studies requiring ethical approval, authors must state the name of the ethics committee that issued the approval and the ethical approval number. Research involving humans or animals must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Where ethical approval is required, it must be obtained before the study is conducted.
3.7. Results and Discussion
The Results and Discussion section is recommended to account for approximately 60–70% of the total article length.
Results present findings systematically and objectively in accordance with the research objectives. Data may be presented as narrative text, tables, figures, or relevant graphs. Each table and figure must be numbered, titled, and cited in the text.
Discussion explains the meaning and interpretation of the findings in relation to theory, previous studies, and relevant scientific evidence. It must describe the scientific contribution, similarities to or differences from previous studies, and implications based on the findings.
Avoid repeating all research data without interpretation or presenting conclusions that are not supported by the data.
3.8. Conclusion
The Conclusion must address the research objectives based on the results and discussion. It should be concise, clear, and specific, reflecting the main findings and contribution of the study.
The Conclusion must not repeat all results, introduce new data or information that has not been discussed, or include references. Where relevant, it may end with implications or recommendations based on the findings.
3.9. Acknowledgments
The Acknowledgments section recognizes parties that provided funding, facilities, technical assistance, or other relevant contributions but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
If the study received funding, authors must state the funding institution and, if available, the contract or grant number. This section may be omitted if there are no parties to acknowledge.
3.10. Author Contributions
The Author Contributions section must describe each author’s role in the research and preparation of the article. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of results, drafting, reviewing and editing the manuscript, and approval of the final version.
Each author’s contribution must be stated clearly and consistently using their name or initials. All authors are responsible for their contributions in accordance with JIKD authorship criteria.
3.11. Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that could potentially influence the conduct of the study, interpretation of results, or preparation of the manuscript.
If there is no conflict of interest, authors must explicitly state that none exists.
4. Citation and Reference List Requirements
4.1. Reference Style
All in-text citations and reference lists must follow APA Style, 7th edition.
In-text citations must use the author’s name and year of publication, not a numbering system such as [1], [2], or [3].
Examples:
- One author: (Suryani, 2024).
- Two authors: (Pratama & Wijaya, 2025).
- Three or more authors: (Rahma et al., 2023).
- Narrative citation: Pratama and Wijaya (2025) explain that ....
The reference list must be arranged alphabetically by the first author’s surname.
4.2. Number of References
The reference list must contain at least 15 sources relevant to the research topic.
4.3. Quality and Currency of References
More than 80% of references must come from primary literature, especially research articles published in national or international scientific journals.
More than 80% of references must also be current literature published within the last 10 years, taking into account scientific developments and the characteristics of the research field. Classic literature may be used when important as a theoretical or methodological foundation.
4.4. Citation Consistency
Every source cited in the text must be included in the reference list. Conversely, every reference listed must actually be cited in the manuscript.
Authors must ensure that author names, year, title, journal name, volume, issue, pages, and DOI match the original source.
4.5. Reference Management Software
Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, to maintain the accuracy and consistency of citations and references.
4.6. Examples of APA 7th Edition References
